Who we are
WE ARE ONE was created from a simple belief. No one should have to struggle alone.
What started as an honest conversation between two people has grown into a community-led movement using sport as a gateway to connection, support, and better mental well-being. We have seen firsthand how strong people can carry a lot quietly, especially in sporting environments where resilience is often expected, but vulnerability is not always encouraged.
Sport has an incredible power. It brings people together, creates routine and identity, and builds trust in a way few other spaces can. WE ARE ONE exists to harness that power and use it to start conversations earlier, reduce isolation, and make support feel normal, human, and accessible.
Our work centres around creating inclusive events and welcoming spaces where people can talk, listen, move, and reconnect without judgement. From community rugby tournaments to our longer-term ambition of developing WE ARE ONE hubs, everything we do is rooted in belonging and connection.
We work alongside trusted mental health charities and services, including Man Down Cornwall and Georgia’s Voice, helping shine a light on the vital support already available while creating safer pathways for people to access it.
WE ARE ONE is about showing up for each other.
It is about community over competition.
And it is about reminding people that strength does not mean silence.
We are building something long-term, grounded in care, collaboration, and the belief that together, we are stronger.
We Are One.
Our Founders
WE ARE ONE was founded by Matt Morgan and Gareth Mitchell Fryer, two people who recognised a gap in how mental health is spoken about within sport and community spaces. What began as a simple conversation turned into a shared commitment to do something meaningful, practical, and lasting.
Both founders bring lived experience, community involvement, and a belief that early connection and honest conversation can change outcomes. WE ARE ONE is rooted in their shared values of care, inclusion, and looking out for one another.
